A Dream Wedding at a Beautiful Family Land in Wainui, Gisborne

Rhian and Troy

Do you believe in fairytales? Do you believe that everything you ever wanted for your dream wedding can be accomplished? Rhian did and more.

There is no easy way to achieve this, but for Rhian, it can happen. With the love and support of their family and friends, Rhian and now-husband Troy, they were able to have the wedding of their dreams. Rhian told My Kiwi Wedding, “My mum and stepdad were married on our family land about 15 years ago. Ever since then, I wanted to have my [own] wedding up there. When my partner of almost 10 years and I got engaged, we had no doubt we would get married up on our hill, above the beach community I grew up in and [now] we had just built our first house. It wasn’t easy, there is no power, parking, and it is up a long windy gravel driveway.” She continues, “We ended up having the ceremony uphill, and our reception down the road in my mother’s beautiful garden.”

What we adore about Rhian and Troy’s dream wedding is how intimate yet extraordinary it is. The personal touches resonate around. The food was made by the bride’s mother, with the help of relatives and friends, as well as the set-up and decorations.

How to achieve it? Rhian said, “The two most important things to my husband and I were, first,  we wanted to invite everyone we felt should be invited, and not worry about numbers, and second, to have a very personal, relaxed, beach styled wedding in a venue that was special to us. We truly feel like we were able to accomplish both of these things and so much more, all within budget. We really did have a fairytale wedding.”
