Jakar Gardens

Maria and Terry are both South Canterbury blood; priding themselves on being locals having lived here most of their lives.

Between their two daughters, animals and working full time it does not leave much time for their passion…. the Garden. So getting out at any chance they can is a burst of fresh air for them. Maria has had a lot of fun in the garden creating unique and wonderful corners to enjoy. They have enjoyed their private oasis and now they want to share their garden with the community.

The name Jakar comes from the first babies of Maria and Terry, Jake and Karma, 2 very loved black lab’s. Their portraits sit proudly at the entrance to the gardens; a sentimental feature that has added an ambience of love and emotion that surrounds the Gardens.

Originally established in the 1970s and added to with love ever since Jakar Gardens boasts a touch of quirkiness, magic class and beauty.  Maria and Terry are proud to invite you to their little piece of paradise.
